Hey guys! As you've probably noticed, the site looks a bit different now. I've seen a lot of comments about the facelift since Sunday, both good and bad. A couple of you even wrote some pretty in-depth reviews about all the new stuff, which was awesome!
Now that everyone's had a chance to use the site in it's new form for a bit, I'd like to get some more feedback. So: after a week, what do you guys like or don't like about the new design? What works better for you, and what doesn't? If you preferred the old site design better, let me know - but also let me know *why*. Was it the layout? the navigation? the colors? the continued lack of cowbell?
In addition, a couple specific questions:

I'm liking the changes, only thing that should have stayed in my opinion was the "fyre it!" and the staff list being on one of the top tabs (not having to go to public first, then finding it).
The site looks really clean and neat; I really like the style you guys have put it in. At first it seemed really bright, but I guess I've gotten used to it because it doesn't bother me anymore.

Todays my first day using fyreball since I signed up, and I havn't noticed anything different at all.

1. I LOVE blue, but unfortunately the old blue was my all time favorite shade (of the non-super intelligent kind)
2. I miss being able to see all 88 of my friends at the same time
3. the original navigation was simpler and less confusing (this being said by someone who does not get lost easily) also, fyre is more exciting than forward, i would never go to a site called Forwardball.
4. don't mind the smaller icons, even if they make mine even harder to see
5. didn't notice new font until you brought it up, both look so similar

2.5. It would be nice to have icons for groups, perhaps allow the group creator to add a small icon to distinguish it, the orange text can get cramped on the front page sidebar. This is just an aesthetic suggestion, nothing problematic.
3. Yeah it's good; but I enjoyed the "Staff Picks" section, it was a nice extra. Maybe replace it with a "weekly pick", Fyreballs' loose page status quickly, it would be nice to highlight some of the gold nuggets. Tags would also be a great addition.

5. I like Helvetica better, but that's just me.

Responding to a few points:
If you said that new the navigation is more confusing, why? What makes it less intuitive for you, beyond being different than what we were used to before? I personally find it much simpler now, so I'm curious about this.
Z: Stop heckling, I know where you sleep... : P
Qbix: Sadly the web standard size of a leaderboard ad is 728 x 90. This means that once we setup rotating ads with some service, that's the size all the ads they'll cast will be.
GuzzieStyle: Thanks - I did see your original feedback thread just didn't have a chance to respond earlier. Glad the new colors are growing on you : )
Regarding site terminology - don't worry, we haven't forgotten the fyre! One thing we feel is also really important though, is for casual new users to immediately recognize what things are. terms like "inbox," "forward", and "send" are all familiar terms to someone who's never used fyreball before, while "fyre it" and "pass it on" are a bit less clear without explanation. That said, we are still working on a good balance of this kind of thing.

Yes, that was the first thing I noticed after the new layout.
The changes to the site are for the better, and I think that most newcomers will find it easier to use than the old one, were they to come before. I've gotten used to the new layout quicker than I did when we still had the old one.
