One indigestion-fueled sleepless night gifted Pete with the vision for Fyreball.
Before that he worked on a few little projects in the entertainment industry such as: the
Flight Simulator and Age of Empire franchises, Halo, and Halo 2. As Studio Manager of Bungie
Studios, creators of the Halo series of video games he helped Halo 2 break retail and
entertainment records with over $125m of sales in just 24 Earth hours. Halo is one of the
most critically acclaimed and commercially successful video games series of all time generating
sales in excess of $900m. The franchise, under Parsons' leadership, went on to explode into
other avenues, including New York Times best-selling novels, smash-hit Soundtracks, toys,
the award-winning 'ilovebees' viral marketing campaign, and Slurpees.
In 2006, after completing pre-production on Halo 3, Parsons became Executive Producer of Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft Game Studios, forging a partnership between Microsoft and Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson, to create Wingnut Studios in New Zealand - a unique combination of Hollywood talent and video game industry know-how. Parsons has been fortunate enough to work with talented people who have won awards throughout his career including a Rave Award from Wired Magazine.
In the fall of 2002, Michel joined Bungie Studios to take on External Producer responsibilities on Halo for Windows. Upon completing this project in September 2003, he joined the Halo 2 production team, leading it through the final months of Halo 2's development. Then, in his role as Lead Producer, he guided Bungie's first formal preproduction development phase on Halo 3, the recently released final chapter to the Halo trilogy. Michel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Sherbrooke.
Ian should be completing his CS degree at Grinnell College, but instead Pete's siren song has kept him trapped in the Pacific Northwest. Fyreball is the second startup Ian has worked for, and if his companies keep getting younger at this rate, he is due to found his own by 2009, making Ian an even younger CEO than Mark Zuckerburg.
Armed with a Computer Science degree from Dartmouth, Michael toiled in the game industry from 1996 to 2006. He held multiple senior roles within Bungie. He was Lead Engineer and Project Lead on E3 best of show winning PC/Mac game Oni. After Oni he led the multiplayer experience on blockbuster videogame mega-hit Halo: Combat Evolved. He continued in his senior role at Bungie as an Engineering Lead on Halo 2. Other important roles include experience at Rare helping deliver the title Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox 360 Launch. In addition, he worked on the game technology team at Apple Computer back when they made cool games for Mac.
After 7+ years of writing to the metal with many high profile teams at Microsoft, Brian joined the Fyreball team late last year and our performance and Triathlon times have both decreased significantly. Brian focuses on all things Fyreball, but brings significant back-end, networking, and security experience after stints on Microsoft’s recently launched Health Solutions Group, Windows Vista Security and Instant Messenger 7. Prior to that he worked on the worked on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 team.
Why Fyreball? The Co-founder of the Portland PHP User Group, pdxphp.org, Sam brings his mad code monkey skills to Fyreball and we're grateful to have them. He also brings the ability to summon other groups of code nerds using only beer and pizza.
Mike McCain is Fyreball's treasured polymath. A computer science graduate from the University of Washington, Mike doesn't just draw pretty pictures, he also pretends to know programming languages. If that isn't enough for you to want to clone the guy - he's also an Eagle Scout.
Our most recent hire, Brett will be laser focused on driving our partner strategy, customer acquisition and product management. Prior to joining Fyreball, Brett was a product manager at Mindsite.com with Redfin co-founder David Eraker. Brett hails from Harvard University and we are proud to say that hopes for a Fyreball hockey team are high as Brett played 3 years professionally in the AHL.
Like several other Fyreballers, Jeremiah was forged in the heat of the mines of Bungie Studios. As a dominant member of the Quality Assurance team from 2003-2007 he broke every iteration of the Halo series so you couldn't.
